Forgetfulness

Forgetfulness

Have you ever noticed the best way to find something you have lost is to go out and buy a replacement?
I have three hammers, four tape measures, and yet another pair of gardening gloves.

Donna has enough Tupperware that if you melted down the plastic you would have enough to build the world’s longest water slide!
I just can’t seem to remember where I put things or we buy things not realizing we already have one!
I believe it is in every human’s nature to be forgetful.
Not just in the duplication of things we own, but remembering directions to a location, people’s names and as we drive away for holidays… honey did you remember to turn off the stove?
If you are forgetful like me… then you’re in good company… because God forgets things too!
Hard to believe isn’t it! But he forgets how much we have offended him…
He forgets how much we have rebelled against him… He forgets over and over again!
He completely separates and forgets the sin in our lives.

Isaiah 43:25 says, “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”

I wish I had some kind of tracking device surgically implanted in my body that would allow me to find anything I have ever purchased. I also know that will probably never happen in my lifetime… so in the meantime, every time I look at those three hammers in my tool box, I am sure grateful that God forgets too…
