Have you ever lost marks for poor spelling on your English assignment?
Mrs. Goetz, my grade six elementary school teacher, always told me that if you’re not sure how to spell a word then look it up in the dictionary… my pet peeve has always been… what good is a dictionary to someone who can’t spell? When I handed in a written sermon for evaluation prior to my exam for ordination as a Pastor, I was blasted by my evaluators for improper grammar and spelling. I thought, how I delivered the sermon was more important than how I wrote it out! Being a non-conformist let me ask you, what’s wrong with spelling a word phonetically, that is to say, spell it how you actually pronounce the word… we should all spell that way? The name Doug should be spelled Dug… the word pneumonia should be spelled nu-moan-ya… vacuum should be spelled vakume… doesn’t that make cents?
After all God spelled out His love for us in very plain simple language. Nothing had to be corrected! John writes “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Those words are nise and cimple! ... Pastor Mike
